The Mortal Kombat E3 Trailer also looks BLOODY Good…

Apparently… there’s an actual MK game coming.

Right on the heels of the recent Mortal Kombat Rebirth short film comes another spot for the series, this time an official trailer for the upcoming new MK game, entitled simply… Mortal Kombat. A reboot that seems to throw out all the crap that MK has gone through after the first, original arcade game, this one looks pretty promising. We’ve got settings in Outworld with Shao Khan, Raiden, Sub-Zero, Mileena, Ninja robots and even Night Wolf. Strangely enough, no sign of perennial hero Lui Kang, Sonya Blade, Scorpion or Jax. But Johnny Cage is present and apparently still in the running (and with his head on).

What can I say? The graphics look pretty gorgeous (that’s also the prerendered stuff), with redone graphics and lots of cool backgrounds. Though some animations are recognizably reused from past games, overall it looks quite fresh and exciting. All I can say is, I hope they fix the clunkiness of the overall fighting action, make a good, solid roster, add in character customization and have a good explanation why we’re all back to square two.

Oh, and that last bit was… pretty bloody awesome. Heh…

This is slated to come out on PS3 and Xbox360 at least, sometime next year. Hopefully there’ll be more info in next week’s E3.
