Tekken 6, New Trailer and PSP Gameplay!
The first actual footage of Tekken 6 on the PSP has finally appeared online! The gameplay videos comes straight from the ongoing GamesCom 2009 event in Cologne, Germany.
Well… as expected it certainly does not look as good as the arcade or big console versions of Tekken 6, but it certainly tries it’s best to emulate the original. At the very least, the whole roster looks to be present, including the newest challengers added in Bloodline Rebellion. Man, how did they fit everyone in there?
The models basically have the same look, but lack the textures, the solidity and detail of the big-screen versions of Tekken 6. The animation as well seems to be reduced from the original 60 to 30FPS, but I don’t know if that’s from the video conversion or the actual gameplay. In any case, Tekken 6 PSP seems to be just as good, if not better, in quality as DR was, so that’s certainly not bad at all for the system. This is still shaping up to be the most awesome fighting game you can have on a portable (with due respect to Soulcalibur Broken Destiny) this coming October.
Moving on, another awesome Tekken 6 video posted is this Tekken 6 ‘Story Trailer’ for the big boys’ consoles versions. While a lot of it seems familiar, there are indeed a LOT of new elements in this almost 2-minute spot, showing off in-game action, customizations and cutscenes showing the ongoing plot- certainly worth downloading the HD version and dissecting frame-by-frame to get everything in (which I’ll be sure to take up in a separate post). Check it out. Check it all out! Man, the last couple months of waiting is really gonna hurt.
UPDATE: Gametrailers has posted the above Tekken 6 GamesCom vids as well as a couple of Scenario Campaign mode videos here. New screenshots have also been posted by Gamespot here.
Tekken 6 is set for release on PS3, Xbox360 and PSP this October 2009.
