Why the Next Few Months will be Game-licious

Even with all the game delays so far striking the industry, there are still a lot of titles coming out as the year shuffles on, and here are the titles I’ll be picking up in the very near future…

Batman: Arkham Asylum. Perhaps the nearest title to release, this one arrives in a couple of weeks on both PS3 and Xbox360. With detailed, atmospheric graphics, kick-ass fighting and a cast of villains straight from the comics, this looks to be the Dark Knight’s finest adventure yet. It looks great and sounds particularly awesome thanks to the return of the Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill as voice talents as well as a Dark Knight-esque musical score. All that plus Poison Ivy. Rarr.

Dragon Age: Origins. A visceral fantasy-action RPG from Bioware, the spiritual successor to Baldur’s Gate looks utterly brutal, bloody, sexy and irresistible. As one of the Grey Wardens, you’re tasked with saving the realms from destruction through any means necessary. Count me in.

Soulcalibur: Broken Destiny. Namco-Bandai’s weapons-fighter drops into the PSP with amazing graphics, new PSP-exclusive modes of play and new characters. But of course the best part is… Bikini Warrior Girls on the GO! WOOHOO!

Dissidia: Final Fantasy. The demo was a good taste, and this should be a nice, big title to have on the PSP. With the best characters from the Final Fantasy series having free-for-all brawls, cool CG cutscenes and the ability to kick Sephiroth’s ass are reason enough to pick this up.

Tekken 6. Of course, there’s this little title- the most awesome version of this most awesome fighting game this year finally comes home. Still scheduled for an end-of-October release, there’s still a bit to go for this one- I expect a trailer or something to break out in September’s Tokyo Game Show. Namco’s marketing for this game is sure to get even crazier as the weeks count down.

What can I say? I think I’m gonna have a blast this Q4. How ’bout you guys?

  1. Dissidia, Soul Calibur BD and Tekken 6. What more could a guy want?
