Tekken 6: Q & A with Katsuhiro Harada

NowGamer just posted this new interview with Tekken team leader and producer, Katsuhiro Harada.

Nothing that new; Harada-san once again mentions the optimized use of the graphics to produce the new ‘motion blur’ effects that debuted in BR, which will be appearing in the console versions. As usual, he doesn’t give any details but once again reiterates that the console versions will have lots of extras and new content, along with new modes and ways to play the game. Also mentioned was possible content for Playstation Home (not exactly exciting, that bit there, but whatever).

Interesting thing- apparently the card-based customization system used in both Virtua Fighter 5 and Tekken 6 were developed through the collaboration of both Sega and Namco-Bandai’s dev teams, which ended up beneficial for both games in the arcades (the customization will of course make it into the consoles as well). Pretty cool. I guess, great minds, and great fighting games, think alike.

Harada also dispelled rumors that the Xbox360 version will be inferior or ‘cut down’ from the PS3 version, citing that they are making progress every day. Well, I am just glad to hear they’re working on the consoles as we speak.

One more interesting bit- Harada says that, because they created Bloodline Rebellion, the home version of Tekken 6 was delayed. This was a combination of both the arcade owners wanting something more, and Harada’s own desire to greatly expand the volume of the game.

At this, I’m not complaining, seeing as how all the additional stuff and tweaks in BR are so awesome. This months-long wait we’re all enduring as we wait for our arcade-perfect, BR-inclusive console versions this Fall is worth it for the two new fighters, all the new goodies, new moves, new customs added in on top of Vanilla Tekken 6. Seriously.

You can check out the whole interview here.

Tekken 6 is set for the PS3 and Xbox360 this Fall 2009.
