How Well Did Streetfighter IV Sell?

According to the Streetfighter Blog, the latest installment of Capcom’s flagship fighter HAS SOLD OUT IN JAPAN. Apparently every copy on every game store shelf in Nippon has been snatched up by rabid gamers just one day after release. EDIT: This is, of course, exaggeration… there are indeed still copies in at least quite a few stores… but yeah, Capcom, we get the point. SFIV is doing well.

According to Capcom’s Seth Killian, “There ARE no more copies to sell on the store shelves. I heard from Ono-san himself last night that Capcom has a few boxes left in the basement that they’ll be sending out on Monday, but they were totally overwhelmed by the demand. Sales couldn’t have been any higher because every single copy in the stores has been sold!!! “

That’s great news for the Streetfighter franchise, and I hope this means we won’t be waiting another ten years for the next SF. Next time, some more SF3 love, dammit.

  1. I totally agree with the Street Fighter 3 love! probably the best game of all time ever. In the UK we are still awaiting the official release on 20/02/09. Managed to make it to the street fighter 4 roadshow and got a few hours worth of casuals in. Looks very promising and I am now really looking forward to the full console release.
