Tekken 6 Console Release Date?

Every Tekken-head and their mother knows by now that Tekken 6 for consoles is coming this Fall 2009. That more or less means 3rd Quarter of the year. But now, apparently some gaming sites have given a more specific date. According to IGN, us fighting gamers will have our long-awaited Next-Gen Tekken on September 30. The game will simultaneously release on both PS3 and Xbox360 worldwide.

Other sites like Fighters Generation have already started announcing this as well, citing that Namco-Bandai has supposedly already confirmed it. On the other hand, word on the Tekken Zaibatsu forums is that this ‘confirmation’ isn’t official yet. On that, there hasn’t been an actual press release from NB announcing the actual release date, as far as I know.

Okay, not being a wet blanket or anything, but for now let’s take all this with a grain of salt- it may be just a case of IGN putting a placeholder date on their features, which has happened a lot in the past. In any case, we won’t be seeing our console Rave War for at least seven or eight months, so it’s really not anything to get riled up about.

At the very least, most markets that already have the arcade version of Tekken Plain Jane will most probably get BR later this month or some time after… that should give gamers plenty of time to play BR before finally moving into the console versions (and the nitty-gritty of the ongoing story modes, extras and online play).

More on this as I get it, then.

  1. umm do u know when its coming out on psp????? =]

    • There has been no word if Tekken 6 will come out on PSP, and I don’t expect any to come while the PS3 and Xbox360 versions are the ones being developed currently. I wouldn’t rule it out totally- I’d love to have Tekken 6 PSP, even if the graphics are just DR-quality, as long as they put in the gameplay and customizations and extras.

Bottom line- I wouldn’t hold my breath for a PSP version.
