Konami makes it official: No 90-minute cutscenes in MGS4!

Where are the Mythbusters when you need ’em? There’s been such a big hoopla about the supposed presence of feature film-long cinematics in the upcoming Metal Gear Solid 4 that finally, FINALLY, Konami has broken its silence.
NOT true, according to MGS4 Assistant Producer Ryan Payton. “I’m surprised nobody has stepped forward to debunk this rumor. There are no 90 minute cutscenes in MGS4. The ending is long, but 90 minutes is a gross exaggeration. And here I thought gamers liked long endings!” I

So there it is, folks. Right from the Payton’s mouth. Now, if you don’t believe him, you can always just grab a copy of MGS4 on June 12, take out a stopwatch and time any cutscenes yourself.

Me, I’ve never had a problem with this anyway. I’ve already read elsewhere that the ending epilogue to Solid Snake’s story is a long, indulgent hour that makes the ending of LOTR The Return of the King look like a rally race, but it’s the END, people! It’s supposed to be long and lingering. If it was too short, that would be worse, believe me. At least you can always skip or turn off the game if you get bored or find the cinema dragging. Too short an ending would spawn endless fan fiction bye-byes and resolutions. I know this for a fact.

MGS4 is set for release worldwide on June 12. I can’t freakin’ wait.
