According to Variety, Pirates of the Carribbean director Gore Verbinski has been signed on to produce the film adaptation of the critically-acclaimed genetically-enhanced shooter, Bioshock. Verbinski has gone on to say that he plans to make an R-rated flick (good!) and is in consultations with Bioshock creator, Ken Levine. No date yet on this one as an actual script isn’t even in existence yet. I’ve already posted about a movie version of ’shock, and this could be awesome given the right treatment and proper amount of staying close to what made the game great, and diverging enough to give even avid fans a surprise or two. Here’s to seeing Big Daddies on the Big Screen sometime in 2009.
