That’s what I am right now. A li’l ol’ beginner in the game that’s Tekken 6.

Unfortunately, that means sharing the few machines available with tons of players who seem to have spent countless hours playing in the freakin’ arcade. It’s a vicious cycle- for someone who normally plays with a pad on consoles, arcade environments, joysticks and opponents are a rude awakening. You can only get used to the new gameplay with practice, and that’s basically impossible since the chances of you having quality time alone with a Tekken 6 machine is about as rare as an honest Filipino politician. I can only play in small bursts- and when skilled or even competent players challenge, I’m usually done and fodder for the veterans. You simply don’t learn anything while you’re getting pounded into the dirt, or juggled for hours on end. Sadly, no amount of playing Tekken 5 DR on the PS3 or PSP helps- the moves and mindset of Tekken 6 is too different- you need to play THIS game to get good at it. Or you’ll lose. A LOT. So far I’m racking up losses, and a bit of low self-esteem.

But then, all I do is cheer myself up- I don’t suck… everyone is just better than me. GAH.

Well, anyway, I’ll just have to soldier on and learn, take the wounds and scars and wear them proudly. I’m not really in this for ranking or bragging rights- all I want is to pass the time before the console version Tekken 6 shows up on PS3… and maybe pimp out my favorite fighters while I’m at it. Who knows- by the time Tekken 6 PS3 is released, I’ll be actually good in arcades… necessitating re-learning how to play with a freakin’ pad again.

A freakin’ vicious cycle, I tells ya. WAAHAHAHA!
