First Screenshot of Streetfighter IV!

RYU?! But how...?

If there’s one fighter can distract me from my Tekken 6 hysteria right now, and that’s Street Fighter IV. Care of 1Up, here’s the first look at an in-game image from the upcoming Street Fighter IV. Yes, that pic up there is actually from the game! Looks quite fabulous, I think, kinda like a 3-D version of the Udon art being done for the remake of Streetfighter II HD Turbo Remix-whatever.

So here’s the news. The game graphics will be polygonal and 3-D, but the gameplay strictly 2-D. Confirmed characters so far are Ryu, Ken, Chun Li and… Dhalsim. No word yet on any others. But given that Yoga Dreamboy isn’t exactly the most popular of characters, I’m thinking there will be a lot of familiar faces returning along with any newbies joining the madness.

Another thing that will return is the six-button layout of the controls. There will be new attacks and stuff. That’s about it. No word either on the platform, but PS3 and Xbox360 are safe bets.

Here’s to hoping that Capcom stuffs this long-awaited sequel with EVERYONE. I mean, every fighter worth shit has to make it in ’cause… who KNOWS when another sequel will appear?? I hope at least the Third Strike crew make it, along with the classic SF2 bunch. Just that and I’ll be happy.

For more info, you’ll be welcome to keep checking on 1Up.com and scope your eyes out for the January issue of EGM, which will contain a ‘massive’ SF4 feature (it’s the cover story). The mag will be out December 18. Till then, keep salivating and crossing your fingers for Capcom to not mess this one up.
